What if you don’t have an API key yet?
If you don’t have any active API keys in MailChimp, you’ll be prompted to create one. Click on Create A Key and Mailchimp will make one new API key for you.
Why should you use a unique key?
Using a unique key per application is recommended. This keeps your integration secure and if your key is ever compromised, you can disable it without disabling access for all your other integrations. You can learn more about MailChimp and API key security by viewing their guide.
What should you name my API key?
Name your key descriptively so you know what application uses it, but also make sure that your name is not easy to guess.
